The investments from the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have surged in the FY 2021 to $13.3 billion from the earlier estimate of $13.1 billion according to a report published by 360 Realtors. The same report states that the investment volume has climbed upwards by 6.4% compared to the previous financial year despite the pandemic and the buyers’ sentiments plummeting downwards.

NRI, a Non-Resident Indian is someone who is resident outside India and for many reasons they want to buy property in India. Why not! India has one of the strongest real estate sectors among all the countries and it makes sense in investing in Indian properties.

The NRI will have to pay the stamp duty and the registration fee while purchasing but will have no additional tax due at the time of the purchase. He shall be able to avail the same benefits as resident Indians on the interest paid towards the house loan.
